Getting started

Click Register and choose whichever suits you — your mobile number or your email address. We send a 6-digit code to confirm it, and you only need to verify the one you chose. You then fill in the full profile — date of birth, height, religion, community, education, occupation, location, horoscope details and your partner preferences — and upload a photograph. Our team reviews new profiles before they go live, which usually takes a few hours on a working day.
Yes, and most profiles on Viwaham are created this way. You will need that person's consent, and their details should be accurate. Please use a mobile number you can actually receive the passcode on. If you later want the profile transferred or removed, contact us and we will verify identity before acting.
No. Registering, creating a profile, browsing profiles and viewing full profile details are all free. Paid membership plans are available and add features such as priority placement and direct contact. Where a plan applies, the price and term are shown before you pay. We do not charge any commission on a marriage.
Yes. Choose Email on the register screen and we will send the code to your inbox instead. You can add a mobile number later from your account if you want SMS alerts, but nothing requires it.
Yes. The sign-in screen has a Mobile / Email switch, and either one gets you into the same account — provided that channel is confirmed on your account. If you registered with a mobile number only, add an email from the prompt after signing in, and from then on either works.
Most profiles are reviewed and published within a few hours on a working day. If a profile is held back, it is usually because the photograph is unclear, a required field is incomplete, or contact details have been typed into a description box. We will contact you on your registered number if something needs fixing.

Your profile

5
Specifics. A profile that names the actual role and employer, the actual qualification, and the real family situation gets far more genuine interest than one built on phrases like "simple and family-oriented". Our guide, How to write a matrimonial profile that actually gets replies, goes through this section by section.
Yes, at any time. Sign in and edit any field. Changes to key details may be re-reviewed before they appear. It is worth refreshing your profile every few months — an entry untouched for two years reads as abandoned, and most families skip those.
Three good photographs beat twelve mediocre ones: one clear daylight face photo looking at the camera, one full-length photo, and one showing you as you normally are. Avoid heavy filters, sunglasses in every shot, and group photos where it is unclear which person is you.
Yes. If a proposal is progressing and you would rather not receive further interest, write to support@viwaham.com and we will hide the profile from public view. You can ask us to restore it at any time.
Email support@viwaham.com from your registered address, or WhatsApp us on +94 77 331 6703. We remove the profile from public view immediately and purge it from our systems within 90 days, except where we must keep transaction records for accounting or legal reasons. If someone else created the profile about you, we will verify your identity first and then remove it.

Privacy and safety

6
Your contact details are never published. We do not display your mobile number, email address or postal address to other members or on the public site, and we do not sell member data. Traffic is encrypted in transit and passwords are stored hashed. Your profile details are public by design — they are a matrimonial listing, and profile pages can be indexed by search engines. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Photographs attached to a profile are visible on the public profile page. If you would prefer photographs to be shown only on request, tell us and we will set the profile up that way. Never upload a photograph of another person without their permission.
Every registration is confirmed by a one-time passcode sent to a mobile number or an email address, and our team reviews new profiles and photographs before publication. We remove duplicates, fabricated entries, contact details in free-text fields and accounts that solicit money. We do not run criminal-record or background checks, and we cannot independently confirm every claimed qualification or income. Please apply ordinary caution.
Stop contact and report it to us immediately at support@viwaham.com with the profile ID. There is no legitimate reason for anyone you meet on a matrimony site to ask you for money, a courier or customs fee, a loan, or an investment — in any framing, however urgent. Our guide to matrimonial scams sets out the nine warning signs that appear before money is ever mentioned.
Email support@viwaham.com with the profile ID and what concerned you, or WhatsApp us on +94 77 331 6703. You do not need to be certain before reporting — tell us and let us look. We act on reports of fraud, false marital status, abuse and any profile that appears to belong to a minor.
Yes. You must be at least 18, which is the minimum legal age of marriage in Sri Lanka. We remove any profile we find belonging to a person under 18.

Advertising and cookies

Viwaham is funded by paid memberships and by advertising. Ads are supplied by third parties including Google, and are kept visually separate from member profiles. Advertisers have no access to member data and cannot influence which profiles you are shown. Our Privacy Policy and Terms pages carry no advertising at all.
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, preference cookies to remember your filters, measurement cookies to count profile views once rather than repeatedly, and advertising cookies. Third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices, and you can block cookies in your browser — though blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in. See section 6 of our Privacy Policy.

Matching and traditions

4
Profiles carry nakshatra and rasi so that families who match horoscopes have what they need, and so that you can filter accordingly. We do not issue astrological verdicts ourselves — that remains with the astrologer your family consults. If you are not matching horoscopes, say so on your profile; it saves everyone time. Our article on the ten poruthams explains what each factor is assessing.
Yes. You can filter by gender, religion and community, and set your partner preferences on the same fields. Equally, if community is not a consideration for you, saying so on your profile is worth doing — plenty of families are quietly relieved to read it.
A large share of our members are in Canada, the UK, Australia, France, Switzerland, Germany, India and the Gulf. Profiles record country and city of residence, and preferences can specify whether you expect to settle in Sri Lanka or overseas. If you are considering a cross-border match, our guide on what diaspora matches need to settle early covers visas, timelines and the money conversation.
Roughly an hour, mostly about the two families rather than the couple, with a short period for the two of you to speak. We have written up what actually happens and how to get through it, including questions worth asking and how to say no gracefully.

After the match

2
Both parties must be at least 18. You submit a Notice of Marriage in duplicate, certified by an authorised person, with birth certificates and National Identity Cards. Fourteen days must then elapse before the marriage can be registered, and two witnesses must be present at solemnisation. Our step-by-step guide covers documents, fees and timing — and please confirm current requirements with your divisional registrar, since they can change.
No. We are an introduction platform, not a broker or wedding planner. We do not arrange marriages, take commission, or act as an agent for any member. Once two families are talking, the rest is yours.
